Tooth enamel is the hard, outer surface layer of your teeth that serves to protect against tooth
decay. In fact, tooth enamel is considered the hardest mineral substance in your body, even stronger than bone.
Dentin is one of the four major components of the tooth. It is the second hardest tissue that lies underneath the outer Enamel layer but is not as hard as enamel. It is the part of the tooth that surrounds the pulp and connects to the pulp
Tooth pulp is the most vital part of the tooth, originating in the center of the tooth, underneath the enamel layer (the top layer) and the dentin layer (the second layer), in the pulp chamber. Tooth pulp is soft and consists of living blood vessels, connective tissue, and large nerves.
The cementum is the surface layer of the tooth root, covering the dentine. The cementum is the part of the periodontium that attaches the teeth to the alveolar bone by anchoring the periodontal ligament.
In a normal adult, there are totally 32 permanent teeth, including the wisdom teeth. There are four different types of teeth in permanent dentition: Incisors, Canines, Premolar, Molars. Each type is for particular function in mouth.
